The Accenture Technology Labs open their doors to Smart Event'10. Located nearby in Sophia Antipolis, the Labs are Accenture's R&D organization responsible for exploring innovations and piloting real world solutions that leverage the most promising emerging technologies and trends.

Three Innovation Workshops will be proposed covering:


NFC/Mobile Payments
This showcase is a series of prototypes and solutions created by the Labs to explore how innovative technologies can improve the mobile customer experience in the context of payments & ticketing. It focuses specifically on new contactless technologies, like Near Field Communication, that are being tested on a small scale in different countries.

Biometrics & Digital Identity
Biometrics is the practice of using measurable physiological or behavioral characteristics to verify the identity of an individual. This session will focus on projects that illustrate the work done by the Accenture Technology Labs in the Biometrics & Digital Identity space: Accenture Border Clearance (London Heathrow) and Large Scale Identity Matching (Indian Unique ID).

Social Media
Social Media is rapidly becoming an area of importance to Accenture’s clients, as more of their customers are using channels like Facebook and Twitter to discuss and engage with their brands. Accenture Technology Labs have been actively developing prototypes and thought leadership in the social media space, as well as delivering tools and social media strategies to pioneering clients. This session will provide an overview of Social Media trends as well as associated opportunities.

e-Forum has decided to put on hold the e-Forum Privacy Working Group meeting scheduled on September 21.
e-Forum plans to reconvene the working group later this year in Brussels, when having the European Commission's full input.
